This is a expert basic recipe, just I agreed with others that it had also much vinegar, and not plenty flavor. I cooked mine in the slow cooker on low about ix hours and that was good. I added chocolate-brown carbohydrate instead of white, garlic, liquid smoke, ketchup and dijon mustard. That fabricated it better.

WOW!!! Couldn't enquire for more: quick and easy to ready, throw it all in the crockpot, prepare when returning from work at the cease of the 24-hour interval, house smells wonderful, a totally deeeeeeelicious repast, and after dinner my teen son printed out the recipe and taped information technology to the refrigerator door with a note which read: DON'T LOSE THIS RECIPE!!! (Great with irish potato salad or coleslaw and a sliver of watermelon.)

THIS RECIPE IS A WINNER!!! First I tried this recipe on the family. Concensus=SUPERB! (Even the kids loved it.) So it was my featured dish at a huge family reunion, and though I'd fabricated 175% every bit much as I thought I'd need, I constitute that I had to quickly thaw out what I'd frozen up the mean solar day before in order to satisfy the oversupply. It was that skilful!! HINT: I establish that serving is best with a leaf of lettuce on the bottom bun, which keeps the juices from softening the bun as well much. Otherwise, don't alter a affair. This recipes freezes well also. And incidentally, I didn't stand a chance of keeping this recipe a secret.

Delicious! Cooked a five lb chuck roast in the dull cooker thinking leftovers would be good for lunch the side by side day. WRONG!! NO leftovers. Neat balance of flavors. Substituted dried minced onion, and added some hot sauce for a fiddling kicking. Anybody really enjoyed this recipe. Thanks for sharing.

This was okay. I cooked the beef in the crockpot on depression all day. I thickened the sauce on the stovetop, but ended up calculation bottled barbecue sauce. This should exist called "Shredded Beef Sandwiches", as they are definitely NOT barbecued. I suggest using crushed tomatoes rather than diced, omitting the extra water, and swapping brown sugar or molasses for white saccharide. A niggling mustard wouldn't injure, either.

This tasted incredible! I changed information technology quite a bit but the recipe was a expert starting indicate. I used chicken rather than beef and simmered for an hour and a one-half. Then I shredded the chicken and mixed it in with the juice which had thickened quite a bit. I added more vinegar, Worcestershire sauce (used worcestershire for chicken rather than regular worcestershire), 1/four cup of tomato plant sauce, 1/4 cup of charcoal-broil sauce and a footling flake of water and simmered that for about 25 minutes. The meat was so tender and full of flavor. I will probably use the meat for many recipes in the future, not only sandwiches. Cheers!

Later cooking overnight on high in the crock-pot, I doctored it upwards a flake, but very tender and just the correct moisture afterward simmering shredded meat in juices for an additional 30 min & serving with tongs to shake off excess moisture. BBQ sauce on the side only not necessary. Used brown sugar instead of white.

This was atrocious - the meat itself was okay, simply how was I to make a Charcoal-broil sauce out of the love apple pieces floating in grease? I took the meat out after cooking, and then shredded and made my own barbecue sauce to put over the meat. I followed the recipe exactly.
01/25/2005
Made this exactly as directed in recipe. Fantabulous. Used Delmonte petite diced tomatoes with garlic, olive oil and basil.

Oh so GOOD and simple.
11/08/2010
This came out ok only it wasn't very barbeque tasting. I boiled down the liquid at the end and after using the immersion blender, did come up with a thin sauce that tasted pretty good simply didn't really taste like BBQ.
06/sixteen/2010
I was a little skeptical considering I was afraid it the liquid would evaporate before the meat was too tender to shred or it would exist too watery, but it turned out just fine. And the flavor was wonderful. I didn't get a vinegary taste at all. I wouldn't change a thing almost this recipe.
06/14/2002
This was a great recipe!!! I've tried other versions and accept found them to be dry and tough. This was moist and the meat fell apart. I actually cooked information technology longer than the iii hours and add some dijon mustard and garlic for extra flavour. My son and husband LOVED It!!!!!!!

This recipe was great! I used my irksome cooker and simply added an extra 1/two loving cup of water and cooked information technology on low near 8 hours. I besides added a little charcoal-broil sauce after information technology was cooked.
11/07/2008
I was really disappointed. The meat came out so runny. It was more similar a soup. I followed the recipe to a tee except reduced the corporeality of vinegar. It had a decent flavor but was just really runny.
07/06/2010
The flavor was good, but I retrieve I was expecting the end result to exist a reddish sauce - similar a red BBQ sauce and it was non. I simply added a niggling ketchup and it turned out just fine.
02/24/2008
Hands down this is the all-time barbecued beefiness sandwich I've ever eaten. And information technology's easy to prepare.
05/10/2005
WOW WOW WOW this is an amazing recipe. Love it!!!!!
12/13/2004
Very skillful! I would maybe substitute dark-brown sugar for white next time, and perchance add some ketchup to give information technology more of a "Barbecue" season. All in all, very good, and a swell alternative to pot roast for a chuck roast!
08/05/2005
I'thousand not ane for juicy meat on bread, but I did savor the meat. The side by side day I reheated the meat and it tasted even meliorate, I had it with some corn tortillas!

There seemed to be a huge amount of juices at the end of the cooking time then I drained the juices and added a canteen of Bullseye Original BBQ sauce to make thicker. It was PERFECT once I added the BBQ sauce! Miscellaneous tip...if the meat is still not tender enough at the terminate of the cooking time, plough the rut to high and cook for another 30 minutes to an hour and then shredding volition exist no trouble!
04/19/2007
Too vinegary and not much other flavor. The other beef barbeque recipe on this site is much better.
04/07/2011

11/27/2006
Crawly! The whole family unit loved it. What a great meal. Used a bread and butter pot roast on the stovetop. Had to plough once, cheque bottom early and often and turn down estrus a footling to prevent called-for. Used less vinegar and added a footling h2o along the way. End result was a new family unit favorite.
07/16/2005
Although the flavour was skillful - I used the advice of many hither and did not drain my tomatoes - then information technology was too much like a stew and I could not pour it on the rolls for the sandwiches. I tried to make repairs by adding a bottle of bbq sauce - merely however too soupy. Not a swell success for me.
04/29/2004
Good, basic recipe. Added brown sugar and a trivial bit of regular old BBQ sauce. Made a lot. Also reduced the onion amount down to one.
01/05/2006
I followed to the T. The juice from the tomatoes , vinegar and water dried out and I had to keep calculation h2o. The medium heat caused the meat to burn on one side. The meat did not get very tender. The flavopr was ok and I added more carbohydrate and some ketchup to recipe at the end after I shredded the meat to give it some juice. It had a slight burnt taste and was a footling tough.

eleven/18/2002

03/26/2004
This was very good, simply I prefer pork for this kind of dish.
12/05/2002
this was a good recipe but not what i expected. i used the crockpot set on high for 3 hours. i got impatient (and didn't crack the lid as suggested) and boiled it on the stove for 15 minutes. information technology was skilful on hogie bread with bbq sauce.
02/28/2002
